At the beginning of the year I posted about how I wasn’t looking forward to this year for multiple reasons. one of the reasons was, with it being my final year of university, I have a lot of work to do, in a short space of time. My problem is I am a serial procrastinator and it has now got to this point. I have around 5 weeks left, to finish the remaining 7700 words of my dissertation, as well as a 2000 word report, whilst continuing to publish a blog post twice a week!
Now that may not sound too bad for some of you, however I overthink every piece of work I do, which complicates the whole situation. As for procrastinating, I have found a huge love for YouTube lately, I wouldn’t even like to know how many hours I have wasted watching videos.
I’ve come to realise that I don’t follow most of the advice I’d usually give to other people in similar situations and I can’t get my head around why. Procrastination is actually a big problem for most people theses days and I’ve come to realise that, so many of us joke about it. Although I’m a big believer in not taking life too seriously, I’m now trying to remind myself of the bigger problems that procrastinating can cause, in order to motivate myself.
The main reason for my doing this post is to try find other people in a similar situation. What advice, apart from the usual ‘time planning, set small goals’, could you give? How do you get yourself motivated?
